Week 9 Friday

We encountered a problem today. We had not taken into account the fact that twisting the torsion bundle will exert crushing forces on our catapult. We must now add crossbars for increased support. Also we added the torsion bundle itself. It is very hard to twist. We must address these new problems promptly.

Week 9 Wednesday

Today was a super testing day so we could not work on anything.

Week 9 Monday

Today we messed around a little bit with the torsion bundle. It ended up snapping. We will put more effort into creating an effective bundle when we have more time.

Week 8 Thursday

Image
We finished installing the arm stop and its supports. Now we will work on installing the actual arm. We have created a few-inch hole on either side of the body that the rope bundle will feed through.

Week 8 Tuesday

Image
We are finally actually mounting the winch. We are using the lag bolt to screw into the wood with no exit point and the bolts to secure the winch to the rest of the board. Also, we are setting up the angle supports.

Week 7 Friday

Image
Jayce was absent and, while Joe has some experience with this kind of thing, Jayce is a bit better and Joe wanted to make sure that both team members agreed on what should happen. Joe has found suitable bolts.

Week 7 Wednesday

The bolts needed for mounting the winch are proving to be very elusive. We have found a suitable lag bolt but none of the other bolts have appropriate lengths/diameters.

Week 7 Monday

Image
Our base is finished and Jayce has brought in his boat winch. We will use the winch to crank down the catapult arm. Now we will work on mounting the winch and its base board.

Week 6 Thursday

Image
Now that we have a thorough plan of how we will put together the catapult, we are commencing construction of said siege machine.

Week 6 Tuesday

Image
We are thoroughly planning out how we will put together the catapult before binding the wood.

Week 5 Friday

Image
The miter saw came in. We will cut the wood according to our pre-measured marks.

Week 5 Wednesday

Image
We are reorganizing our work space. We are moving our material to a large table that we shall utilize by way of commencing construction upon its smooth surface.

Week 5 Monday

All of our wood is measured and ready for cutting. All we have to do now is wait for the miter saw to come in so that we can start building.
